WRITING_heading_small.jpg Norman_Enormous_final_cover_artwork.jpg It's finally (almost) here!!! It's my soon to be released BRAND NEW BOOK 'Norman Enormous'... and it looks a lot like this!! Oh, it's a wonderful tale about two people, friendship, fun and outrageously huge spaghetti. Want me to be the first to write a review? OK. Here goes...

'Norman Enormous is an amazingly fun effort from the bloke you know as Cartoon Dave. The rhyming text will delight young and old readers alike, and the pictures have all been drawn with love, emotion and a series of pens and paints. If you don't love this book, you may need your head examined by one of those people who examine heads as their job."

Now, you probably know that I already have three UFO (Unavoidable Family Outing) novels under my belt, but did you know that I'm currently writing the fourth? Did you??? All I can tell you at this stage is that unlike the last two, all the action WILL take place in our glorious Australia. (it won't be in stores for a while yet, though. They don't sell a lot of partially written novels. They like the whole thing. Easier to get people to buy a whole book.

Oh, and if you feel up to it - you can try to win one of 6 copies of NORMAN ENORMOUS in the kids club. There'll be a sneak preview coming up for members of the kids club soon, too...

Plus, you can Read the FIRST CHAPTER of every single one of my novels NOW! That's right - put down that sugar-dipped sheeps brain sandwich, click on 'DAVE'S BOOKS' and print out the first chapter of any of my three novels. That way, you'll be able to get the flavour of the book before you go off and buy a billion copies for everyone you know. Cool, huh?

Puffin_Logo_small.jpg march_of_the_penguins.jpg

In October 2008, I took part in a super fab day called 'March of the Penguins', where myself and a host of other Penguin authors (Morris Glietzman, Felice Arena etc) stood on stage and did our thing in front of 1500 students from a bunch of Victoria schools. To check out a 5 minute video extravaganza of everyone in action zoom off to the LINKS page and click on the MARCH OF THE PENGUINS link

TV_heading_small.jpg CARTOON DAVE (that's me) has just recorded a new season's worth of famous face caricatures for that fab show 'IT'S ACADEMIC' (Channel 7, 4:30pm). Yes, I know... you've seen me scribbling famous people dozens and dozens of times before, but I'm back in '09 for what will be my FOURTH SEASON with It's Academic. All right!
I'm fairly sure that you can see me each FRIDAY(Channel 7, 4:30pm), so stay tuned! channel_7_logo_TN.jpg

Tosted_TV_Logo_smaller.jpg This is a show that I've been on a bunch of times. Watch it every single day of your life, and some time, some day, you might see me there again. It's on the channel with a big TEN on it.

OTHER_STUFF_heading_small.jpg What Cartoon Dave is up to at this very second...

READING: At the moment, I'm not really reading anything besides Christmas cards. Oh, and I'm reading this as I write it. Does that count?

WATCHING: : I watched 'Eragon' the other night. A lovely tale about dragons and heroes and a spooky dude who likes to hurl fire bombs at people. I'd heard a lot of reviews saying that it was a lousy movie, but (having not yet read the book) I thought it was actually pretty cool. So did my 11 year old.

Oh, and it's a little late, but big ups to Wes for winning Idol. Yay Wes! Check out his single 'You' on iTunes or maybe just go over to his place and ask him to sing it for you...

LISTENING TO: OK... here are some right outta left field for you. You may not have heard of these guys before, but they're well worth a listen:

If you want your grooves groovy and your beats funky, in a cool, old-schooly kinda way, check out a groooovy band by the name of THE BAMBOOS (killer songs: 'Step it up' & 'King of the rodeo').
Also, a little more soul-ish and suave-some... an Aussie gal by the name of Kylie Auldist is a hugely cool feast for your ears (give 'cut you loose' a listen).
